In the Ayurveda insomnia is known as Anindra. According to Ayurveda insomnia responsible for three dosha unbalancing are Tarpak Kapha, Sadhak Pita, Prana Vata.

Tarpak kapha is imbalance cause poor nourishment of brain cell and also responsible for the insomnia. Sadhak pita is located in heart. It controls emotion, stress, desire and spirituality. When it is imbalance then causes insomnia. Prana vata makes nervous system sensitive and also responsible for anxiety, worry and insomnia.
  • Avoid alcoholic and caffeine rich type food products
  • Use butter and processed butter more while during diet
  • Take food those rich in nutrition like protein and carbohydrates
  • Take body massage before the bath
  • Avoid late night sleep and watching movie and TV also
  • Have salad more in diet every day
  • Nuts like almonds, walnuts, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and peanuts in your daily diet.
  • Massage your feet with lukewarm mustard oil (सरसों का तेल) 2-3 times a day and before going to bed.
  • Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cumin (जीरा) on a sliced banana. Eat at night regularly.
  • Have 1 teaspoon of licorice root (मुलैठी की जड़ ) powder with a glass of milk on an empty stomach in the morning.
  • Boil 3 grams of fresh mint (पुदीना) leaves or 1.5 grams of dried powder of mint leaves in 1 cup of water for 15-20 minutes. Take lukewarm with 1 teaspoon of honey at bedtime.
  • Have a glass of whole milk with green cardamom (इलायची) powder before going to bed.
